## Funding Announcement

Aviron raised $18.5M in Series A funding led by Stripes (Chris Carey), with participation from Global Founders Capital, Formic Ventures, and Mark Mastrov (24-Hour Fitness founder).

Funds will support:

- Doubling team size, focusing on engineers and software developers
- Expanding product development and entertainment content library
- Increasing US online presence and entering retail market
- Boosting inventory to address supply chain issues
- New content and features, including Netflix integration

Amy Curry-Staschke joined as Chief Operating Officer, with prior experience at Nike, Lululemon Athletica, and Burton Snowboards.

## Company Background

Aviron is a gaming-led smart rowing machine designed for efficient full-body HIIT workouts combining cardio and strength training. Features include video games (zombies, robots, DeLoreans), game psychology (achievements, leaderboards, sweat-equity currency), live races, virtual destinations, and streaming entertainment.

Rowing provides full-body workouts but was previously mentally challenging and boring; Aviron integrates gamification from the ground up for engaging experiences.

Previous funding: $4.5M seed round in August 2021. Team grew to 36 members. Paying subscriber base increased 2700% YoY; revenue up 700% in 2021. New updates, features, integrations, and content released twice per quarter.

2022 consumer trends survey: 95% prefer hybrid home/gym workouts (41% fully at-home).
